The Royal Gorge train offers a unique mix of adventurous beauty and magical luxury for the whole family. The one-of-a-kind, 24-mile round trip runs through one of Colorado's most breathtaking granite canyons following the Arkansas River deep. Along with the range of luxury services, including coach, deluxe class, first-class lunch and dinner train, and vista dome, the Royal Gorge train also features specialty experiences. If you are looking for the ride of your life, here are five Royal Gorge experiences you won't want to miss.

Santa Express Train

The Santa Express Train is the newest addition to the Royal Gorge train route, featuring an array of hand-crafted Christmas decorations designed to make your family feel like they are stepping into a winter wonderland. The ride is topped off with a special visit from St. Nick and the appearance of his sleigh flying under the full moon. Each ticket includes admission for the ride, the visit and a gift from Santa, and, of course, cocoa and cookies.

Holiday Train

The Holiday Train is another magical winter experience that is designed to be shared with family and friends. This experience may be a better choice for passengers that don't have small children. The train still features festive decorations designed to keep passengers in the holiday spirit. In addition, the ride includes a festive lunch and holiday cocktails at the fully stocked bar.

Murder Mystery Train

If you are a lover of "Murder On The Orient Express," this is the train ride for you. The Murder Mystery Train is only available on the weekends but it remains a featured favorite of the Royal Gorge Train rides. The experience includes food, scenery, and a classic, immersive murder mystery.

Ride With The Engineer

The Royal Gorge train rides also include an experience for train lovers with exclusive access to the cab with the engineer. Four models offer the experience, including the 601, 602, 603, and F-7. The ride is shorter than other experiences, lasting only 12 miles; however, you gain an all-access pass to the engineer and their knowledge of the locomotive.

Oktoberfest Train

The Oktoberfest Train is available during the fall season between September and October. The focus of this experience is the food and drink. The bar features Oktoberfest beers, while the dinner features classic Oktoberfest dishes such as bratwurst and sauteed apples.

Each one of these experiences includes access to the train's open observation car, which allows all passengers to enjoy a 360-degree view of the canyon. Find out more about the Royal Gorge train ride online.
